Our Mission

The Office of the Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs (SPEHA) leads the U.S government’s efforts to secure freedom for U.S. nationals held hostage or wrongfully detained overseas. SPEHA partners with a coalition of government, private sector, and non-profit organizations to free U.S. nationals who are held hostage and wrongful detained abroad, support their families, and end the practice of hostage diplomacy.
